Context
The World’s Fastest Indian, directed by Roger Donaldson, was released in 2005. It tells the story of Burt Munro and his beloved Indian motorcycle. It is based on true events, with Burt travelling from Invercargill at the bottom of the South Island, to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA, to set a new land speed world record. On the surface, it’s a story of fulfilling a dream but it’s also a story of fierce determination, resilience and overcoming whatever obstacles life throws in your way.
What we see with the character of Burt accomplishing in the story is only part of what the real Burt Munro accomplished in his life.
